Attention: If you’re curious about volunteering, be sure and read the last paragraph below.

Introduction: The FIRST LEGO League Explore program serves our students in grades 2-4 (ages 6-10 years). Working in teams, they focus on the fundamentals of engineering through exploring real-world problems, creating unique solutions, and designing and coding a LEGO Education robot.

The Portland Spring Expo and Invitational will be held on the beautiful (new!) campus of De La Salle North Catholic High School. FIRST LEGO League Explore and Challenge teams will present their materials at their table, and meet with our roving Reviewers – members of the community and industry partners – who are looking forward to hearing about the triumphs and challenges of the season. We will have Mission Mats set up for the Challenge teams to demonstrate one or two unscored robot runs. At lunch, concessions will be open in the De La Salle Commons. In the gym, a FIRST Robotics Competition team is hoping to wow and amaze with an exhibition of their robot on the basketball court. After lunch, we’ll come back together as a community to celebrate each team’s accomplishments in a recognition ceremony, and have a chance to preview the upcoming season from FIRST, before finishing our day around 2 pm.
