Come help us build a scrimmage field! We will be working from 9 AM to dinner time on Saturday 1/11/20, Sunday 1/12/20, Saturday 1/18/20 and Sunday 1/19/20. If we finish early, we’ll just cancel the last day.
I will start each morning with a brief introduction to using the machines and explaining the (complicated but very efficient) field-building process for tracking and assembling all the many parts. You have to come at 9 AM on the first day you work to be sure everyone (at all levels of experience) is familiar with the process.
If you have your own tools, feel free to bring them – we typically need all the drills and drivers we can get. An extra chopsaw would be nice, too. Hearing protection and eye protection are mandatory – so bring your own if you don’t want to wear the ones that sweaty woodshop students have been using. Bring gloves if you have them to avoid splinters. I strongly recommend using a dust mask, which I can provide – or did you save the one you used last year?
You do not need to be an experienced woodworker (preferred, though!), but please be realistic about your capabilities – you will be on your feet a lot, and need to be able to follow instructions.
I can use up to 15 people each morning and afternoon. If you can come for morning and afternoon, sign up in both slots. Adults and high school students with all levels of skills are welcome. Younger kids are welcome if closely supervised by their adults.
