ORTOP works with thousands of volunteers in Oregon to create the next generation of scientists and engineers. Whether you have a few hours to help at an event or want to mentor a team with technical or non-technical expertise — there is a volunteer role suited for many unique interests. No prior experience is required and you will have help every step of the way. You’ll join a community of 250,000+ people around the world making a difference for their youth and community. There are two main types of volunteers that make all the difference in providing these opportunities to Oregon’s youth.
(1) Coaches and Mentors. These volunteers

- Are inspired by the students

- Empower students to be good global citizens who understand that they can use their collective skills to make a positive impact in one person’s life, in their community, and even the world.
- Join a community of like-minded individuals that support FIRST programs.
- Receive general training and training for your volunteer role.
- Have access to certificates of volunteerism and other recognition items.
- Enjoy the excitement of young people enjoying learning during a friendly competitive event.
