Volunteer Opportunity Types
|Learn More!||Volunteer 101 Orientation Training: Not sure yet? We offer all volunteer prospects and new registered volunteers who are interested in participating in some way to attend an orientation. Attend on or off site and via online. One hour the last Wednesday evening of each month.
Company Lunch & Learn Sessions: We would love to come to your place of work and recruit volunteers for our programs. ORTOP would come in and be general information or very intentional to what we are looking for volunteers. Partner funding supports Latino professionals and Female focused sessions to increase target participation in mentoring and volunteering for key communities in need of role models.
|Tournament & Team
|FIRST Seasonal Tournaments & Competitions: Multiple Roles are available, Judges and Referees are high profile positions needed. Volunteers must complete certifications and back ground checks and additional training for roles in tournaments and competitions. See the Volunteer Role Descriptions below.
Coach or Mentor a Team: If you have a group interested in competitions it starts with you! Assemble teams and meet in basements, churches, community centers and schools. New teams receive funding. Align schedules and join team practices to give a prospective to whatever your profession is and offer your presence. Online Mentors insure rural teams have access to your talent and experience.
|Group Volunteering||LEGO Build Days: Channel you inner builder, volunteers come to us or we can come to your business for a LEGO build. We use many LEGO figures every year for our theme fields, these fields need to be built. With instructions from an ORTOP staff member you can help create cool playing fields.
NEW! Group Adopt a Tournament: ORTOP is looking for groups of volunteers. If you have a group of friends/employees or your business/organization that would like to adopt a tournament and participate in meets this can be arranged. Qualifying tournaments are weekly at the same location at the same time every time. Statewide locations.
LEGO Sort: At ORTOP we financially support teams but we also give out tons of LEGO. We donate all different types of LEGO to teams in need. Help us take apart donated LEGO figures and sort them for distribution back to teams. 2 or 4 hour sessions
|Remote Volunteers||Calling All Offsite Volunteers! : ORTOP often needs volunteers to work at their own desk or home office to review content, make a design, or help make call backs or meeting appointments. Want to work from home or your office? Simply volunteer as a remote volunteer and we’ll send you a list of tasks in 2 hour to 4 hour sets to confirm what you can assist with!
Application Reviewers: ORTOP offers financial support to teams in need, in order to receive financial consideration they must apply via application. ORTOP receives hundreds of applications for support, we are looking for volunteers to review criteria and make sure each application is complete and meets the guidelines. This insures teams have the best consideration possible. Five hours minimum per month.
|Volunteer Leadership Development||ORTOP Sponsored Events & Campaign Committees : Each year, ORTOP manages special partner events, scrimmages or outreach events in Oregon around the FIRST season calendar. See our special events and campaign committee page to determine if you want to help in mission specific volunteer role.
ORTOP Advisory Council: Whether it is planning campaigns for a season, the upcoming 20th Anniversary plans, designing a flyer, managing an ORTOP Leaders’ Circle nominations, our ORTOP Advisory Council is a great way to share volunteer expertise and add to our highest mission excellence. Join a fun, vibrant team of gracious volunteers who are committed to seeing ORTOP’s mission succeed!
ORTOP Board of Directors: Serving on the ORTOP nonprofit board is an honor and a privilege. Board members are recruited each year. Preference in selection requires volunteers who are familiar with ORTOP operations from tournament, committee, or coaching contributions. Consider joining a committee and getting to know the ORTOP organization if you are considering board leadership.
