Attention: If you’re curious about volunteering, be sure and read the last paragraph below.

Introduction: The FIRST LEGO League Explore program serves students in grades 2 through 4. Working in teams, they focus on the fundamentals of engineering through exploring real-world problems, creating unique solutions, and designing and coding a LEGO Education robot. FIRST LEGO League Explore teams will present their materials at their table, and meet with our roving Reviewers – members of the community and industry partners – who are looking forward to hearing about the triumphs and challenges of the season.

The FIRST LEGO League Challenge program serves students in grades 4 through 8. They research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering – building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. FIRST LEGO League Challenge teams will have opportunities for robot game play and meet with roving Reviewers during the morning. During the afternoon they will have the opportunity to watch the FIRST Tech Challenge scrimmages mentioned below.

The FIRST Tech Challenge program serves students in grades 7-12. Working in teams, they design, build, and code robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. Robots are built from a reusable platform, powered by Android technology, and can be coded using a variety of levels of Java-based programming. At the Spring Expo, members of FIRST Tech Challenge will share and showcase their skills and solutions with other teams in Southern Oregon in a series of scrimmages.
